I am a 125th Anniversary Chair and Professor of Medical Statistics in the Department of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Birmingham. In 2024, I was awarded a NIHR Senior Investigator award. I previously worked at the University of Oxford for 19 years, where I was a Professor of Medical Statistics and Director of the Centre for Statistics in Medicine.
My research interests include
methodology for developing linical prediction models (incl. predictive AI/machine learning for healthcare)
methodology for evaluation and fairness assessment of clinical prediction models
reporting standards and guidelines
